Update

We're writing to share a small but important update with you.

As you may know, on October 1, 2025, State Bank of Cochran officially became part of the BankSouth family – and we couldn’t be more grateful you’re part of the BankSouth family, too. We remain deeply committed to protecting your accounts and delivering the same friendly, reliable service you’ve always counted on.

Beginning Monday, March 9th, your State Bank of Cochran contacts will be transitioning to new BankSouth email addresses.

Here's What You Need to Know:

What's changing? Emails from your banker will come from an @banksouth.com email address instead of a @statebankofcochran.com, @cbjc.com, or @firstlaurens.com email address.

For example, if you've been corresponding with Alex Sample at [email protected], future replies will now come from [email protected].

What's NOT Changing?

  • You can still send emails to your banker's existing @statebankofcochran.com address — they'll be received, as usual
  • Your accounts, checks, services, and banking relationships remain exactly the same
  • Our website is still located at statebankofcochran.com
  • The same trusted team you know is still here to serve you

This is simply part of bringing our systems together under one umbrella to serve you better.

Staying Safe During Transitions

Anytime there's a change in how a company communicates with you, it's a good opportunity to sharpen your fraud awareness. Bad actors often use transitions like these to impersonate trusted contacts. Here are some important reminders:

Verify Before You Act. If you receive an email claiming to be from BankSouth asking you to click a link, update your account information, or provide personal details — stop and verify. Call your banker directly at a number you already have on file.

 Know the Red Flags

  • Urgent language pressuring you to act immediately
  • Requests for passwords, Social Security numbers, or account details via email
  • Unexpected attachments or links
  • Slight misspellings in email addresses or domain names

Resources to Help You Stay Protected

Our teams are working together to ensure customers across all locations have access to fraud education, prevention resources, and personal support.

  • Fraud Center — Visit our Fraud Center at banksouth.com/fraud-center for up-to-date information on current scam trends, prevention tips, and what to do if you suspect fraud.
  • Monthly Fraud Watch Updates — Sign up to receive our monthly fraud prevention newsletter, delivering practical tips and emerging scam alerts straight to your inbox.
  • Stop. Think. Call. — When in doubt, contact your local branch directly using a trusted phone number, not one provided in a suspicious message.

If anything ever feels off, trust your instincts and contact your local branch directly. We will never ask for sensitive information via email, text, or phone.

To verify your identity, we will only ask for the last 4 digits of your SSN (never the full number), your address, or your birthday.

Thank you for being a valued part of the BankSouth family. We're here to make sure this transition is seamless for you.

Warm regards,

BankSouth
